Damaged body, video, 2:27, 2020.
Based on David Cronenberg’s film Crash, the video Damaged Body delves into the multifaceted concepts of derailment and accident through the lens of inorganic and organic embodiment, employing 3D renders and found footage. Hybrid bodies are fragmented and reconstructed like 3D animation models, while space and time are reassembled, creating an emotional environment of successive encounters between the material and the immaterial, the machine and the human, car collisions, and human flesh. Contrasting snapshots of the moment of derailment and rapidly shifting images come together in a metaphorical, literal, and emotional depiction of impact and destruction.
